Get ready for a glimpse of Brady Corbet’s highly anticipated historical epic, The Brutalist, running 215 minutes.
A24 just released a short trailer this morning, with the film set to hit U.S. theaters on December 20.
Earlier this month, we announced that the film will be shown in select cinemas using 70mm prints. Director Corbet, known for his work on Natalie Portman’s “Vox Lux,” has shared the financial challenges he encountered during production.
At a recent CAA screening, Corbet stated, “We’re not reinventing the wheel. Honestly, we would have been more comfortable with a bigger budget.”
He expressed the challenges, noting, “It took a toll on me personally, with countless sleepless nights over the past seven years. It demands blind faith to bring something this underfunded to completion.”
The film, primarily set in New York, was partially shot in Hungary to leverage tax credits. “We filmed in a place where costs reflect reality,” Corbet explained. “Hungary may not be the cheapest option, but it’s significantly more affordable than New York City, where we spent $1 million on transportation for our last project.”
Corbet’s directorial prowess earned him the Silver Lion award at Venice, and the film also featured at the New York Film Festival.
